IRON MOUNTAIN — Heritage Design & Stone recently had a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce to celebrate joining the chamber as well as moving to their new location at 450 North Blvd. in Kingsford.

Owners Stephanie and Dustin Sotka started this business because they knew there was a need in the area, as the closest stone shop required traveling to either Marquette or Green Bay, Wis.

Heritage Design & Stone is expanding fast, and the Sotkas recently purchased a CNC router to keep up with demand in the community. They are also working to clean up and restore the old Smith Castings building.

According to the business’ web page, Dustin Sotka has been in building trades for more than 15 years. He graduated from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in 2015 with a mechanical design degree, and went on to do mechanical drawings for four years. He has since focused on construction documentation and cutting, polishing and installing stone.

They specialize in custom stone fabrication, according to the website, including quartz, marble and granite.

“A lot of people don’t know that we do more than just countertops,” Stephanie Sotka said. “We offer shower surrounds, fireplaces, full-height stone backsplashes and are happy to help with anything you can dream up. We have a nice selection of remnants available, so keep us in mind for smaller projects as well, such as vanities or tables.”

Heritage Design & Stone’s showroom is open for walk-ins during regular hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, but it’s always best to contact the business in advance for an appointment by calling 906-280-9507 or emailing to [email protected].
